Playing With Paper!!

Hello! I found some time to play...

So, it's that time of year again - teacher gifts.  I like to make cards because I feel like they can actually use cards.  Many years ago (when my oldest was a little one), I use to buy the teacher a coffee mug or teaching related item.  Then I realized that all teacher's probably have a whole closet dedicated to teacher themed coffee mugs!! 

So, this is one of the cards I came up with.  The stamp is from SU! - Pick a Petal.  I used Riding Hood Red and Apricot Appeal cardstock (and ink) the patterned paper is from imagination project.  Love this card.  I would love to get this card as a gift!!! 

Oldie but goodie!

I love this stamp - look at the cows face!  I bought this stamp several years ago at Scraptasia - it is from A Muse Arts.  And recently while visiting Scraptasia, I came across the cow ribbon.  All supplies are SU! except the green patterned paper which is from Martha Stewart.  The inside of the card reads "Cow's it going?".  How can you not smile when you read this card?

And (although I haven't had a ton of free time on my hands) I have gotten some scrapbooking done.  The above layout is from Halloween 2007 - I am almost up to 2008!!  I just wanted to share the chipboard pieces from Bazzil - Frankenstein, the cat and ghost.  I bought them at AC Moore and they are so cute!!  I really loved embellishing them.

My new favorite stamp company is My Favorite Things and the above card is one I designed with one of there stamp sets called "Feeling Fruity".  They designed this set just for me!!  Just look at the stamped cherries - their faces are so cute!  The patterned paper is from October Afternoons (another favorite); I used at you Spica pens to color the cherries & the bow; I colored the steam with a copic marker; I created the square scallop with my Cricut; and the card is made by a company called Memory Box (pre-folded card-love it!).  The inside of the card reads:

Cute layout to share.

This is a layout I completed last week.  It is from when my husband took my son to his first football game (big deal in our house).  I included the tickets by connecting them with a paperclip so they can easily be removed if someone wants to check them out.  Also, the paper on the left started out as a scrap that I used to punch out stars but then I liked the way it looked so I added it as an embellishment.

What a great weekend!

So, my favorite scrapbooking store in the whole world (Scraptasia) just moved to a bigger store and held the reopening yesterday.  My sister & I have been planning for weeks to attend the reopening and we weren't disappointed.  The parking is great and the store is so much bigger than the older store.  We got some awesome stamps, paper and ribbon (love the way the ribbon is organized).  When we got home, we played and played.

  
 

My sister bought the most adorable stamp set from My Favorite Things called "Girls Night Out".  I made the above card (stole the idea from Susan) with cardstock and paper from SU. 

This is the inside of the card - it reads "Friends don't let friend's drink alone".  Susan got the last package of this stamp set but I loved it so much I had to order on-line.

Sophisticated Thank You!

So several months ago when my neighbor Jamie & I raided the stash of our friend Janet, the only condition Janet set for us borrowing her stamps was that  we make her some cards.  No problem.  Above is a card I made for Janet.  The solid cardstock is from SU!; the patterned paper is Heidi Swapp (love this paper); and the stamp set is from Martha Stewert (I got it on sale at Michael's for $3.00).  And (although it is hard to see) I used my new Scallop Square punch from SU! to add a little something extra - you need to have this punch if you don't already.

This is just another card I created using Funky Favorites from SU!.  Love it.  So cute and easy.

Also just wanted to pass along some awesome news - Scraptasia is moving to a bigger store in Berkley Heights NJ.  I am so happy for Dawn & the gang!  With so many stores not able to survive today - it is so excited they are able to expand.  Check out www.scraptasia.com for info.  The new store should be open in early November.  I can't wait to check it out!!!

Home Sweet Home!

So last Thursday, my neighbor; stamper and very good friend Jamie & I decided to pay an (unannounced) visit to another good friend (and stamper) Janet after we put the kids on the bus.  Janet's kids take a later bus so we knew she'd be home.  Janet has been stamping longer than Jamie & I so we wanted to raid her stamps!  Most people would probably get annoyed at 2 unannounced visitors arriving on their doorstep (coffee in hand) at 8:15am.  But not Janet - she was thrilled & she let us borrow some amazing stamps!  All she asked was for some cards for herself - no problem!

So I brought home some great stamp set and yesterday I got to play a bit. 

This is from a SU! stamps set called Funky Favorites - I just loved this card.  All products used are from SU! except for the patterned paper which is from October Afternoon.

Same stamp different layout.  Again all items used are SU! except for the patterned paper which is My Mind's Eye.  The card reads Home on the outside & on the inside it says Sweet Home!

There are some stamp sets (for me) that never go out of style.  I love Think Happy Thoughts & Seeing Spots.  On the card above, the ribbon is ribbon I bought a while ago and have never really used.  The other day, I was inspired to create a card with it.  All products (other than the ribbon) are from Stampin' Up!  My color choices are: Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun and Green Galore.  I created another version below:

Yesterday I hit Target and they had a few items on clearance.  So, somehow they found there way into my shopping cart.

I also had the chance to play with the stamps I picked up.  They are from KI Memories & this is what I did:

 

The ribbon is from American Crafts; the stamps are KI Memories and all other supplies are from Stampin' Up!  I use night of navy, certainly celery, regal rose and pretty in pink ink.  What do you think?
